Plano was a collaborative effort where I, as the designer, partnered with five merchandisers to create a capsule collection that captures the essence of both Texallis and Paris. This project was a fusion of diverse perspectives and expertise, bringing together intricate design elements and robust merchandising strategies. Our goal was to not only produce a collection that resonates with global audiences but also to uphold the highest standards of sustainability and ethics in fashion. This collaboration enabled us to weave together our shared values and visions, resulting in a line that is as socially responsible as it is aesthetically compelling
.
Plano draws inspiration from the imagery and motifs that are traditional to Texas and Paris. We looked to American imagery to inspire and guide us, while honoring French identity. Cotton and Denim are American staples, deeply rooted in Texas’ history. In order to uplift and support all of the places Plano touches there is a focus on sustainability at every step of the design process. 100% of the denim in the collection is American made Cone denim which is sustainably produced in the US.
Throughout our collection you can see motifs of insects and flowers, carefully chosen to reflect our ideals, like the rare pink texas bluebonnet, a beloved flower in the state, as well as Lady bugs and big eyed bugs, two insects beneficial to the health of cotton plants.
During the process of creating this line it became very evident to us that there are resources available to ensure fair wages to garment workers. In our effort to support our global community we carefully chose skilled artisans who we could ensure fair pay and working conditions for, to bring our vision to life and tell the story of the love between Texas and Paris.
PS, I love you.
